Tomo Izakaya, the 2 year-old Japanese restaurant at Clarke Quay with a branch at Esplanade Mall, introduces its latest dining concept called Tomo Tempura Bar by Tomo Izakaya. Located at Clarke Quay, the standing tempura and sake bar serves inexpensive, quick, tasty and convenient Japanese food with a range of sakes and Japanese beers to go with the food. This unique new concept is geared towards peckish party goers on the move and hungry late night after-party crowd who wants a quick bite without burning a hole in their pockets. Diners order and eat their food standing while watching the world go by.
On the menu are close to 20 types of tempura, diners can choose from seafood, vegetable or kakiage (shredded vegetable with tempura flour) tempura. The popular California rolls are reinvented with a choice of 9 coatings ranging from white or black sesame, perilla leaf powder, bonito flakes, Japanese mixed seasoning, flying fish roe, wasabi flavoured green flying fish roe, ebi tempura rolls and avocado rolls. There is also a choice of 3 popular hand rolls – California, Avocado and Ebi Tempura.
Price for tempura starts from $1.20 to $5.80 per stick, California rolls are $6.80 - $9.50 while hand rolls or maki are $4.80 - $5.80. The highly pictorial menu allows one to point and order the food while the sake can be ordered from the sake display.
